Defending champions Rangpur Riders have officially named their squad for the highly anticipated 2025 ExxonMobil Guyana Global Super League (GSL), set to take place at the Guyana National Stadium in Providence from July 10 to 18.
Star-Studded Lineup
The Rangpur Riders, one of the leading franchises in the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL), are eager to defend their GSL title after a dramatic turnaround in the 2024 edition, where they bounced back from three straight losses to win their final three matches and capture the trophy. Their 2025 roster reflects a blend of seasoned performers and exciting international signings, aiming to replicate last year’s success.
Inspirational wicketkeeper-batsman Nurul Hasan Sohan will captain the side once again, supported by key returnees such as Soumya Sarkar, the tournament’s leading run-scorer in the inaugural season, and Kamrul Islam Rabbi, who spearheaded the bowling attack. The Riders have also retained domestic talents including Mohammed Naim Sheikh, Mahidul Islam Ankon, Mohammed Saif Hassan, Abu Haider Rony, Rakibul Hasan, and Yasir Ali Chowdhury.
International Firepower
To bolster their title defense, the Riders have signed several high-profile overseas players:
- Kyle Mayers (West Indies): Explosive top-order batter
- Tabraiz Shamsi (South Africa): Left-arm wrist spinner
- Ibrahim Zadran (Afghanistan): Dynamic top-order batter
- Iftikhar Ahmed (Pakistan): Experienced all-rounder
- Akif Javed (Pakistan): Left-arm pacer
- Khawaja Nafay (Pakistan): Middle-order batter
- Harmeet Singh (USA): All-rounder
