National Junior All-Rounder Benefits from ‘Project Cricket Gear’

    Published on

National Under-17 all-rounder Emmanuel Lewis is the latest young cricketer to receive support from the ongoing “Project Cricket Gear for Young and Promising Cricketers in Guyana,” an initiative dedicated to nurturing the next generation of cricketing talent.

At a recent presentation ceremony, Lewis was provided with essential cricket equipment to aid his development and performance on the field. The project, a joint effort by Anil Beharry of Guyana and Kishan Das of the USA, continues to identify and support talented youth across the country, supplying them with new or gently used cricket gear free of cost.

Since its inception, the initiative has distributed a wide array of equipment—including bats, pads, gloves, and bags—to dozens of young cricketers and clubs in all three counties of Guyana. The aim is to remove barriers to participation, keep youths engaged in positive activities, and foster discipline, skill, and education through sport.

Recipients are chosen based on their talent, commitment, and potential, with club leaders and talent scouts playing a key role in the selection process. The project has also seen support from local and overseas donors, ensuring a steady supply of gear for aspiring cricketers.

Lewis expressed his gratitude for the assistance, pledging to continue working hard to represent Guyana with pride. Organizers reaffirmed their commitment to expanding the programme and encouraged others to contribute, emphasizing that every donation helps shape the future of Guyanese cricket.

The continued success of “Project Cricket Gear” stands as a testament to the power of community-driven initiatives in supporting youth development and strengthening the foundation of cricket in Guyana.
