Georgetown, Guyana – The group stage of the 11th annual Milo Under-18 Secondary School Football Tournament has concluded, with Chase’s Academic Foundation, Waramuri Secondary, and Santa Rosa Secondary emerging as standout teams, maintaining their unbeaten records and advancing to the knockout stages.
Defending champions Chase’s Academic Foundation continued their dominance with a commanding 11-0 victory over Three Mile Secondary. Forward Bryan Wharton stole the spotlight with a remarkable haul-trick, scoring four goals in quick succession. Chase’s flawless performance has solidified their position as favorites to retain the title.
Waramuri Secondary, representing Region One, also showcased their strength with a series of impressive victories. They capped off their group stage campaign with a 5-1 win over New Amsterdam Secondary. Denzell Abrams and Ricardo Lewis were among the key contributors in what has been a dominant run for the team, earning them the top spot in Group A.
Santa Rosa Secondary, another top contender from Region One, finished at the summit of Group B after defeating Charlestown Secondary 5-1. Dane Phillips opened the scoring with an acrobatic header, while Rupee Norton and Daren Williams added to the tally in a commanding display of skill and teamwork.
Other notable performances came from Dolphin Secondary, who maintained their unbeaten streak in Group D with consistent victories, and West Ruimveldt Secondary, who topped Group C despite a hard-fought draw against Abram Zuil Secondary.
The tournament, organized by the Petra Organisation and sponsored by Nestlé Milo along with Massy Distribution and other partners, has seen 24 schools competing for a grand prize of $300,000 toward a school project. With the group stage now complete, attention turns to the Round of 16 as teams battle for a spot in the finals scheduled for April 19.
Fans can expect heightened intensity as these unbeaten teams face increasing pressure to maintain their form in what promises to be an electrifying conclusion to this year’s championship.
