Kares One Guyana T10 Tapeball Blast: Montra Jaguars, Cotton Tree, Mahaica Hawks Among 16 Teams Set for Berbice Zone Showdown

    Published on

The Berbice zone of the highly anticipated Kares One Guyana T10 Tapeball Blast is set to ignite this weekend, with 16 teams—including Montra Jaguars, Cotton Tree Die Hard, and Mahaica Hawks—vying for supremacy on June 28 and 29.

Returning finalists Montra Jaguars are aiming to go one step further after last year’s impressive run, but will face stiff competition from other top contenders such as Cotton Tree Die Hard and Mahaica Hawks. The line-up also features Champ XI, Crabwood Creek, Bath Sports Club, Corriverton Spartans, Line Path Select XI, Ethan XI, D’Edward Sports Club, New Amsterdam XI, Tucber Park, and Name Brand Titans, many of whom have made their mark in previous tournaments.

Saturday’s matches will unfold across two venues: the #48 Ground and the Rose Hall/Canje (Welfare) Ground. The action then shifts to the Albion Sports Complex on Sunday, where the Berbice zone champion will be crowned under the lights. Play begins at 9:30 AM each day, with free entry for all spectators.

Tournament Co-Director John Ramsingh expressed enthusiasm about the Berbice leg, noting, “Berbice marks the beginning of our expansion, and we are eager to witness the talent within this county. We anticipate high-octane cricket and encourage fans to rally behind their local teams. Ultimately, both the teams and their supporters will emerge as winners.”

The stakes are high: the Berbice zone winner will secure a coveted spot in the national finals, scheduled for August 3 at the National Stadium in Providence, and will walk away with a $300,000 cash prize and a specially crafted trophy. The zone runners-up will receive $100,000. At the national finals, teams will compete for the grand prize of $1.7 million, with the runners-up earning $700,000 and losing semi-finalists each taking home $300,000.

Individual brilliance will also be rewarded, with prizes for Most Valuable Player (MVP), Most Runs, Most Wickets, Man of the National Final, Highest Strike Rate, and Best Economy, including cash, trophies, TVs, and even a motorcycle for the MVP.

The Kares One Guyana T10 Tapeball Blast continues to grow in stature, supported by a wide array of sponsors and broadcast partners, and promises an electrifying weekend of cricket as the road to the national finals begins in Berbice.
