The Lusignan Golf Club was alive with excitement as top local golfers Harry, Persaud, and Ganpat emerged victorious in their respective flights at the 10th annual Romel & Robin 9-Hole Golf Tournament, marking a decade of spirited competition and community camaraderie.

The tournament, organized by golf enthusiasts Romel Bhagwandin and Robin Tiwari, has grown into a much-anticipated fixture on the local sporting calendar. This year’s event featured a medal play format across three handicap-based flights—0–9, 10–18, and 19–36—ensuring fair play and competitive action for golfers of all skill levels.

In the fiercely contested 0–4 Flight, Harry stormed to victory with a gross score of 37 and a net of 33, narrowly edging out Jaipaul Suknand, who posted nearly identical numbers. Richard Haniff rounded out the top three with a gross score of 38 and a net of 34.

Persaud and Ganpat also delivered standout performances, each topping their respective flights and earning well-deserved recognition for their skill and consistency on the course. Their achievements were celebrated alongside special awards for Longest Drive and Nearest to the Pin, highlighting both power and precision among the competitors.

Beyond the competition, the tournament maintained its tradition of being a vibrant social event. Families and supporters enjoyed a festive atmosphere, complete with a sizzling barbecue and lively music from Sniper Sound, making the day a memorable outing for all.

Reflecting on the event’s milestone, co-organizer Romel Bhagwandin expressed pride in the tournament’s evolution. “It’s about more than just golf. It’s about bringing people together—players, friends, families, and supporters. Seeing how this event has grown over the years is incredibly heartwarming,†he said.

As the Romel & Robin 9-Hole Golf Tournament continues to blossom, it remains a testament to the enduring spirit of sportsmanship and community in Guyana’s golfing scene.
