Guyana Women Open T20 Blaze Campaign with Convincing Win Over Leewards

    Published on

Guyana Women’s cricket team started their 2025 CWI T20 Blaze campaign on a high note, securing a commanding seven-wicket victory over the Leeward Islands Women at the Arnos Vale Ground, Kingstown.

Opting to bowl first, Guyana’s bowlers put in a disciplined performance, restricting the Leeward Islands to just 88 runs for 7 wickets in their allotted 20 overs. The Guyanese attack maintained tight lines and applied pressure throughout, preventing the Leewards from building any significant partnerships.

Chasing a modest target of 89, Guyana’s batters showed composure and intent. They reached the required total in 18.2 overs, losing only three wickets along the way. The top order laid a solid foundation, and the middle order ensured there were no late hiccups, guiding the team comfortably to victory.

With this win, Guyana Women have made a strong statement at the start of the tournament and will look to carry their momentum into the upcoming fixtures. Their next challenge will see them face the Windward Islands Women on May 3, as they continue their quest for T20 Blaze glory.
