PORT OF SPAIN, Trinidad– Chris Dehring, the newly appointed Chief Executive Officer of Cricket West Indies (CWI), has commenced his tenure with a meeting alongside President Azim Bassarath and other officials from the Trinidad and Tobago Cricket Board (TTCB). This gathering is part of Dehring’s initiative to engage with regional stakeholders, following his appointment on February 1, 2025.

During the meeting, which took place at the Alloy Lequay Administrative Centre in Couva, Dehring underscored the necessity of re-establishing connections with key players in West Indies cricket to gain insights into the specific challenges and prospects faced by each territory. He remarked, “Although I am familiar with cricket administration, the dynamics within the industry are constantly changing. Therefore, it’s imperative to reconnect with stakeholders across the region. Each territory presents distinct challenges and opportunities, and I am committed to ensuring that Cricket West Indies’ vision is in harmony with the real situations on the ground.”

Dehring further highlighted the critical role that territorial boards play in the future development of West Indies cricket. He stated, “Territories form the backbone of our cricket production line. My main focus as CEO will be on revitalizing and enhancing this pipeline to ensure it meets the demands of the modern professional sports environment. Our unity and collective vision, shared among stakeholders—including territorial boards, players, coaches, and fans—are our greatest assets, even amidst occasional healthy disagreements. To compete effectively and secure long-term success, we must forge strong partnerships, invest in player development, and establish a sustainable framework that benefits everyone involved. My role extends beyond executive decisions; it involves collaborating with all of you to formulate policies and innovative strategies that will advance the game for future generations. The strength of West Indies cricket lies in the strength of our territories.”

TTCB President Azim Bassarath, who also holds the position of Vice President at CWI, welcomed Dehring’s visit and reiterated the board’s commitment to collaborating with CWI.
