Confident U-15 Cricketers Aim to End Guyana’s Title Drought

    Published on

Guyana’s Under-15 cricket team is heading into the Cricket West Indies (CWI) Rising Stars Under-15 Tournament with renewed confidence and a clear mission: to bring home the title and end the nation’s long-standing championship drought.

The squad, led by captain Richard Ramdeholl and vice-captain Brandon Henry, departed for Antigua on Sunday, ready to face the region’s best young talent. Their campaign begins on April 15 against Trinidad and Tobago at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium, followed by matches against Jamaica, Windward Islands, Leeward Islands, and Barbados over the week-long tournament.

Ahead of their departure, the team received a boost from Guyana Cricket Board President Bissoondyal Singh, who urged the players to uphold discipline, sportsmanship, and national pride. Singh also donated cricket gear to several team members, underscoring the board’s commitment to youth development and ensuring the players are well-equipped for the challenge ahead.

Support has also come from the private sector, with FL Sport providing financial backing to four squad members. The gesture was aimed at motivating the young cricketers to strive for excellence and to remind them of the nation’s hopes riding on their shoulders.

The tournament, which features five rounds of 50-over matches at four historic venues in Antigua, is a crucial platform for the next generation of West Indies cricket stars. Guyana’s squad, which includes promising talents like Justin Dowlin, Lomar Seecharran, Luke Amsterdam, and Shahid Ramzan, is determined to make a strong impact and end the wait for a championship.

As the Rising Stars tournament gets underway, all eyes will be on the Guyanese youngsters to see if their confidence, preparation, and team spirit can finally deliver the coveted title.
