In a thrilling display of cricketing prowess, Joash Charles led the East Bank Cricket Association’s Under-23 team to a decisive victory over Timehri Cricket Club. The match, part of the D&R Construction and Machinery Rental Division II 40-Over Competition, saw Charles excel in both bowling and batting, showcasing his all-round skills.
Timehri Cricket Club, batting first, struggled to build momentum, eventually being dismissed for a modest 90 runs in just 23.5 overs. Charles, along with teammates Jovind Duncan and Asuf Robert, played crucial roles in restricting Timehri’s innings. Duncan took three wickets for seven runs, while Charles claimed two wickets for 18 runs, and Robert secured two wickets for 17 runs.
In the chase, Charles anchored the East Bank U23 innings with a well-crafted 34 runs, including one boundary and four sixes. Deonarine Dindial also contributed significantly, scoring 52 runs with one four and four sixes. East Bank U23 successfully reached their target of 91 runs in just 11.3 overs, securing a three-wicket victory.
