Breakout League: Bidaisee Leads Trinidad and Tobago to Another Victory

    Published on

Navin Bidaisee delivered a stellar all-round performance to help the Trinidad & Tobago Legions secure a commanding six-wicket win over the Windward Islands Infernos in the West Indies Breakout League T20, played at the Brian Lara Cricket Academy on Sunday.

After winning the toss and electing to field, the Legions faced a strong opening partnership from the Infernos, with Johann Jeremiah (40) and Ryshon Williams (27) putting on 69 runs. Bidaisee broke the stand, claiming both openers in the ninth over, and finished with impressive bowling figures of 2 for 18. The Infernos, boosted by Shadrack Descarte’s quickfire 36 and Teddy Bishop’s 31, posted a competitive 162 for 7 in their 20 overs.

The Legions’ chase got off to a shaky start with opener Kamil Pooran dismissed for a golden duck. However, Crystian Thurton anchored the innings with a composed 50 off 32 balls, sharing a crucial 49-run partnership with Bidaisee. After Thurton’s departure, Bidaisee took charge, crafting a match-winning 56 not out from 40 deliveries, including six fours and two sixes. With support from Jyd Goolie (18 not out), the Legions reached their target in 18.1 overs, finishing at 164 for 4.

This victory marks Trinidad & Tobago Legions’ third win of the tournament and solidifies their position at the top of the standings as the preliminary round concludes. Bidaisee’s all-round heroics earned him the Player of the Match award, underscoring his growing reputation as a key figure in the inaugural Breakout League campaign.

With the playoffs approaching, the Legions will look to maintain their momentum as they chase the title in this showcase for emerging Caribbean cricket talent.
