Essequibo Coast Road and River Links Set for Improvement

President Irfaan Ali, speaking at the Badrinaath Ashram in Spring Garden, Region 2 (Pomeroon-Supenaam), announced that his ministerial cabinet is exploring ways to support the development of religious leaders representing Guyana’s three major religions.

“We as a government, as a Cabinet, are currently discussing how we can assist in the development of pastors, pandits, and imams in our country. This may involve collaborating with religious leaders and identifying institutions that can facilitate their growth, and we are committed to making this happen,†he stated.

The announcement was made at the site of the Lord Shiva Statue, noted to be the largest in the Caribbean.

In addition, President Ali shared plans to introduce a third ferry on the Parika-Supenaam route and to not only resurface the Essequibo Coast road but also accommodate the increased traffic. He mentioned that there are also plans to introduce another ferry to the North West District to meet the rising demand for transportation, driven by increased production since the introduction of the first India-made MV Ma Lisha ferry over a year ago on that route.

Dr. Ali emphasized the numerous projects and programs his People’s Progressive Party Civic administration has implemented, urging citizens.
