A new cohort of young leaders is ready to make a difference in their communities after 63 participants graduated from the YOUthEngage592 Leadership Programme in Region 5. The graduation ceremony, held on Saturday at the Mahaica-Mahaicony-Abary (MMA) Community Centre, marked a proud milestone for the initiative, which is designed to empower youth with the skills, confidence, and vision needed for positive change.

The YOUthEngage592 Leadership Programme, spearheaded by the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sport in partnership with regional authorities, offers comprehensive training in leadership development, project management, communication, and civic responsibility. Over the course of several weeks, participants engaged in interactive workshops, community service projects, and mentorship sessions with local leaders and professionals.

Addressing the graduates, Minister of Culture, Youth and Sport Charles Ramson Jr. commended their commitment and encouraged them to use their new skills to uplift their peers and contribute to the region’s growth. “You are the future of Guyana, and your leadership will shape the direction of your communities and our nation,†the Minister said.

Graduates expressed gratitude for the opportunity to participate in the programme, highlighting the friendships formed, the confidence gained, and the practical knowledge acquired. Many shared plans to launch youth-led initiatives in education, environmental sustainability, and entrepreneurship.

Regional officials and community members also attended the ceremony, celebrating the achievements of the graduates and reaffirming their support for youth empowerment. The YOUthEngage592 programme continues to expand across Guyana, with upcoming cohorts planned for other regions as part of the government’s commitment to nurturing a new generation of dynamic, responsible leaders.
