Demerara Distillers Limited (DDL), recognized globally for its exceptional Demerara Rums, has made a significant enhancement to its aging capabilities by inaugurating a new barrel aging facility, Warehouse N, at its Plantation Diamond location in East Bank Demerara. This newly constructed warehouse is designed to hold 30,000 barrels, boosting DDL’s overall aging and storage capability to 130,000 barrels. This expansion is crucial for the company to satisfy the increasing international appetite for aged Demerara Rums while maintaining the distinctive quality and rich flavors characteristic of their products.
As a pioneer in the aged rum sector, DDL launched its acclaimed El Dorado 15 Year Old in 1992, setting a standard in the industry. The aging process is a vital component of their production, with rums maturing in oak barrels for durations ranging from one year to an impressive 50 years.
With an investment of GYD 730 million, Warehouse N is a noteworthy commitment to the company’s future. During a recent inspection by the Board of Directors, Chairman Komal Samaroo emphasized the significance of this development: “As the interest in premium aged rums continues to rise, this new facility guarantees our ability to provide our award-winning rums while honoring the rich heritage and craftsmanship that have established Demerara Rums as a beloved choice among rum enthusiasts worldwide. This warehouse marks a pivotal step in our mission to reinforce Guyana’s status as a dominant player in the aged rum market.â€
The new facility not only enhances storage capacity but also optimizes efficiency, supporting the prolonged aging process that ensures each bottle of Demerara rum embodies the rich, signature flavors that aficionados around the globe cherish. DDL stands as the sole remaining distillery in Guyana, taking pride in preserving over 300 years of distilling heritage. In addition to being the exclusive producer of Demerara Rums, DDL also crafts the El Dorado Range, Diamond Reserve Rums, and Ivanoff Vodka.
