    Published on

A 24-year-old man from Lightfoot West, Antigua, has been charged in connection with the death of 19-year-old Guyanese national Joyleen Abraham, who was reportedly ejected from a moving vehicle in early May.

    Incident Details

    • The tragic event occurred on May 7, 2025, along a by-road between New Winthorpes and the Jabberwock main road in Antigua.
    • Abraham, who had only recently arrived in Antigua, was a passenger in a vehicle driven by the accused, Victor Ince.
    • Sometime after 5 p.m., Abraham was somehow ejected from the moving vehicle. Police responding to the scene found her body on the south side of the road with multiple injuries. She was pronounced dead by a medical doctor at approximately 6:30 p.m.
    • Victor Ince appeared before Magistrate Ngaio Emanuel and was remanded to prison.
    • He faces charges of unlawful confinement and killing in relation to Abraham’s death.
    • Ince’s next court appearance is scheduled for September 17.

    Ongoing Investigation

    • The vehicle involved has been seized for forensic examination as authorities work to determine the exact circumstances that led to Abraham’s death.
    • The case has prompted calls from the public and Abraham’s family for a thorough and transparent investigation, with many expressing skepticism over initial reports that she jumped from the vehicle.
    • Police have appealed to anyone with information or who may have witnessed the incident to come forward.

    Community Response

    • The death of Joyleen Abraham has sparked grief and outrage both in Antigua and Guyana. Colleagues and friends described her as a “beacon of light†and a model young woman.
    • The incident has also reignited discussions about the safety of women and the need for justice in cases involving suspicious deaths.

As the investigation continues, the family and community await answers and justice for Joyleen Abraham, whose life was cut tragically short just days after arriving in Antigua.
