    The stage is set for the knockout rounds of the third edition of the One Guyana King and Queen of the Sand Football tournament, following a dramatic conclusion to the group stages in the bauxite mining town of Linden.

    After weeks of intense competition, the final line-up for both the men’s (Kings) and women’s (Queens) divisions has been confirmed, with several teams securing their spots in the last moments of group play.

    Kings Division: Fierce Battles for Knockout Berths

    In Group D, Goal IQ delivered a decisive 3-1 victory over YMCA, clinching the top spot in the group based on a superior goal difference of +6 compared to Bomberz’s +4, with both teams finishing on nine points. This result eliminated YMCA from the competition and propelled Goal IQ into the knockout stage. HH Ballers also advanced after a walkover win against Turf President, edging out One Syde on goal difference (+4 to +3).

    Queens Division: Powerhouses Set for Semi-Finals

    On the women’s side, the Guyana Defence Force (GDF) dominated Group A with a flawless record, while defending champions Speightland secured their place in the next round after an emphatic 11-0 win over Rockstone. Iconic Ballers topped Group B, setting the stage for high-stakes semi-final clashes.

    The semi-final matchups in the Queens division will see:

    • Iconic Ballers vs Hururu
    • Speightland vs GDF

    The quarterfinals for the Kings division are set to kick off on Friday, with only the winners progressing to the next stage. The Queens will battle in their semi-finals on July 5, with defending champions Speightland facing their toughest challenge yet against the formidable GDF squad.
