Damen Shipyards Group has proudly announced the delivery of a second-hand Damen CSD 350 cutter suction dredger to Guyana Port Inc. (GPI). This stationary dredger comes equipped with a comprehensive start-up package that includes floating pipelines, spare parts, commissioning services, and training, all facilitated by Damen. Following the completion of its initial dredging project, the modular dredger is now poised for its next mission.
GPI is committed to enhancing Guyana’s maritime infrastructure and promoting the nation’s economic growth through significant port expansions. The newly delivered cutter suction dredger will play a crucial role in maintaining the navigational integrity of the Demerara River by removing sediment build-up from key shipping channels. This dredging effort is vital for increasing navigational depths and ensuring safe, efficient vessel traffic.
Furthermore, the CSD 350 will also focus on deepening essential areas within the port of Georgetown, aligning with international standards and paving the way for the development of additional shore-based facilities. This initiative is expected to bolster the country’s maritime capabilities and support its ongoing economic development.
