GEORGETOWN (Reuters) – A consortium spearheaded by Exxon Mobil is gearing up for a bustling year of exploration and production in Guyana. This comes as upgrades have enhanced the capacity of several floating facilities, alongside the anticipated arrival of a fourth vessel, as stated by the head of the U.S. oil company in Guyana on Wednesday.

The consortium has submitted requests for environmental permits from the Guyanese government for its Longtail project, which will be the first to extract non-associated gas, as well as for exploring the Hamlet well located in the southeastern section of its extensive Stabroek offshore block. According to Alistair Routledge, president of Exxon Guyana, the Longtail project is projected to contribute up to 250,000 barrels per day (bpd) of crude oil output and 1 billion cubic feet per day of natural gas production. This was announced during a press conference.
