Five North West District Men Arrested in GY$300 Million Cocaine Bust

    Published on

In a major drug enforcement operation, five men from the North West District have been arrested in connection with a massive cocaine bust valued at GY$300 million. The arrests were made on Thursday, April 10, 2025, during a coordinated effort by law enforcement authorities.

The operation unfolded after intelligence reports indicated suspicious activities in the region. Acting on the tip-off, police intercepted the suspects and discovered a substantial quantity of cocaine concealed in a vehicle. The illicit drugs were carefully packaged and intended for distribution, according to investigators.

The identities of the suspects have not yet been disclosed, but police confirmed that they are all residents of the North West District. The men are currently in custody as investigations continue to determine the full scope of the drug trafficking network involved.

This bust marks one of the largest narcotics seizures in recent months and underscores the ongoing battle against drug trafficking in Guyana. Authorities have vowed to intensify their efforts to dismantle criminal networks operating within the country and beyond its borders.

The case is expected to proceed to court shortly, where charges will be formally laid against the suspects. Meanwhile, law enforcement agencies are working to trace the origins and intended destination of the seized cocaine.
