    Guyana and Suriname Explore Collaboration on Border Commission Talks

    The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation has released a complete statement regarding a meeting that took place today between the Honourable Hugh Hilton Todd, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, and Her Excellency Ms. Liselle Blankendal, Ambassador of Suriname to Guyana, at the Ambassador’s request.

    During their discussion, Ambassador Blankendal emphasized the successful outcome of the recent International Business Conference, which she noted significantly advanced private sector collaboration between Suriname and Guyana. She also reiterated Suriname’s dedication to the Strategic Dialogue and Cooperation Platform (SDCP) that exists between the two nations, highlighting the vast opportunities for enhancing their bilateral relations.

    In response to recent media reports, the Ambassador reaffirmed Suriname’s commitment to deepening its partnership with Guyana. Minister Todd expressed Guyana’s unwavering dedication to upholding international law, respecting sovereignty and territorial integrity, and fostering regional cooperation. He emphasized the importance of nurturing the friendly relations between Guyana and Suriname within the established frameworks.

    Additionally, Minister Todd and Ambassador Blankendal talked about the upcoming convening of the Border Commission between their countries.
