Sherwin Benjamin, a 37-year-old businessman from South Amelia’s Ward, Linden, has turned himself in to authorities after being wanted for the unauthorized removal of an impounded motorcycle from the Amelia’s Ward Police Outpost. The incident occurred on March 19, 2025, and Benjamin surrendered at the Mackenzie Police Station on Wednesday.
The case stems from an unusual chain of events at the police outpost. Reports indicate that on the night of the incident, a black-and-grey Skylar motorcycle without a license plate was lodged at the compound by police officers. Shortly afterward, a white open-back vehicle marked “ON TEST” entered the premises. Two men exited the vehicle and proceeded to remove the impounded motorcycle without permission, despite being informed by police ranks that they were not allowed to do so. The individuals reportedly ignored law enforcement warnings, loaded the motorcycle onto their vehicle, and drove away.
The motorcycle was recovered later that night at the home of one of the suspects involved in the removal. Additionally, the vehicle used in transporting the motorcycle was impounded on March 29 after being found in possession of another individual who claimed he had borrowed it from its owner.
Benjamin is now in police custody as investigations into his role in the incident continue. Authorities are working to determine whether others involved will face charges. This case highlights law enforcement’s commitment to addressing breaches of protocol and ensuring accountability for unlawful actions.
