$650.5M in Roadworks Transforming Port Kaituma

    Published on

Port Kaituma, Region One – The community of Port Kaituma is undergoing a major transformation as $650.5 million worth of roadworks are being implemented to improve infrastructure and enhance connectivity in the region. The ambitious project, spearheaded by the Ministry of Public Works, is part of the government’s commitment to modernizing hinterland communities and boosting economic development.

The initiative involves the construction and rehabilitation of several key roads within Port Kaituma, including concrete upgrades to the main thoroughfares. These improvements aim to address long-standing issues such as poor road conditions, flooding, and limited accessibility, which have hindered transportation and commerce in the area for years.

Residents have expressed optimism about the project’s potential to improve their quality of life. Better roads are expected to facilitate smoother travel, reduce vehicle maintenance costs, and enhance access to essential services such as healthcare and education. Additionally, local businesses anticipate increased opportunities for trade and investment as transportation becomes more efficient.

Minister of Public Works Bishop Juan Edghill recently visited Port Kaituma to assess the progress of the roadworks and engage with residents. He emphasized that the project is not only about infrastructure but also about empowering communities and creating jobs. Several local contractors have been engaged in the works, ensuring that residents benefit directly from employment opportunities generated by the initiative.

The government’s investment in Port Kaituma is part of a broader strategy to bridge the development gap between coastal and hinterland regions. Similar road improvement projects are underway across Region One and other hinterland areas, with the goal of fostering inclusive growth and sustainable development.

As work progresses, authorities have pledged to maintain high standards of construction while ensuring timely completion. The transformation of Port Kaituma’s roads marks a significant step forward in enhancing regional connectivity and improving livelihoods for its residents.
