Police Football Club Aims to Build on Strong Season in Elite League VII

    Published on

The Guyana Police Force (GPF) Football Club is gearing up for a strong showing in the upcoming Elite League Season VII. Following a commendable third-place finish in the previous season, the team is determined to improve its performance and challenge for the top spot.

Last season, the Police team’s only setbacks came against the eventual top-two finishers, Guyana Defence Force (GDF) and Slingerz FC. Despite these losses, the team demonstrated its competitive edge and is now focused on overcoming these challenges in the new season.

To bolster their chances, the Police FC has made significant additions to their squad, including key signings such as Ryan Hackett, Brandon Solomon, Neron Barrow, and Jamaine Beckles. These new players are expected to strengthen the team’s midfield and defensive capabilities, addressing weaknesses identified in previous matches.

Assistant Coach Dwain Babb emphasized the importance of integrating these new players into the team through extensive training sessions. The coaching staff is also working on enhancing the team’s tactical awareness and decision-making on the field, particularly in critical games against tough opponents like GDF and Slingerz FC.

One of the main areas of focus for the team is improving their finishing, as they often created scoring opportunities but failed to capitalize on them in key matches last season. Building player confidence, especially in high-pressure games, is another priority for the coaching staff.

Despite the challenges of managing a non-professional team, where players have other commitments outside of football, the Police FC remains optimistic about their chances in the upcoming season. With their new signings and renewed focus on tactical and mental preparation, the team aims to surpass their previous performance and compete for the Elite League title.

The Police FC’s season opener is set against Fruta Conquerors, and the team is ready to put their preparations to the test. With strong leadership and a renewed sense of purpose, the Police FC is poised to make a significant impact in Elite League VII.
