A tragic incident in Corentyne, Berbice, has led to the arrest and charging of a local fisherman for the murder of his brother-in-law. Terrence Simon Adams, a 28-year-old fisherman from the Number 76 Housing Scheme, was recently charged with the murder of Michael Jackson, who was stabbed to death on October 10, 2024.
Jackson, a 22-year-old fisherman, succumbed to his injuries at the Skeldon Hospital shortly after the incident. The stabbing occurred at Jackson’s home in the Number 76 Village Housing Scheme, Corentyne, Berbice. According to reports, Adams and Jackson had a long-standing feud that dated back to February 2024, stemming from a disagreement over the clothing of Adams’ children.
Adams was arrested at his residence after police acted on information received. He appeared before Magistrate Tuanna Hardy at the Springlands Magistrate’s Court, where he was formally charged with murder. Adams was not required to enter a plea and was remanded to prison pending further proceedings. His next court appearance is scheduled for March 27.
The family of the deceased has expressed a desire for justice, with Jackson’s mother stating that she wants the perpetrator to face the consequences of his actions. The ongoing feud between the two men had previously led to violent confrontations, with both parties involved in altercations.
