Over 80% of cash grant cheques already distributed – Finance Secretary

    Published on

Over 80% of the $100,000 cash grant cheques have already been distributed to eligible Guyanese citizens, according to Finance Secretary Sukrishnalall Pasha. This significant progress in the distribution process comes just weeks after it began in mid-February 2025.

    Key points:

    • Approximately 480,000 cheques out of the 600,000 printed have been distributed so far.
    • Distribution centers are operating in all coastal regions of Guyana.
    • Cheques will continue to be available through early March for those who have not yet collected them.
    • The cheques are valid for six months and can be deposited at ATMs for convenience.

Pasha has urged citizens not to rush to distribution centers, assuring that all registered Guyanese aged 18 and older will receive their grant. He emphasized that there is no need for panic or large crowds, as the distribution process will continue until all eligible beneficiaries receive their cheques.

For those who missed the initial registration period, Pasha confirmed that registration will continue for future distribution cycles. After the mass distribution phase, remaining cheques will be delivered to designated NDCs for collection.

The Finance Secretary also highlighted the importance of traceability and transparency in the distribution process, ensuring that the cash grant reaches its intended recipients efficiently and securely.
