    Education Minister Launches Outreach for ‘Guyana Digital School’ in Georgetown

    Education Minister Priya Manickchand has initiated an awareness campaign to promote the Guyana Digital School, visiting several schools in Georgetown to introduce this innovative educational platform. The outreach, which began on Tuesday, March 4, 2025, aims to familiarize students and teachers with the digital learning initiative set to transform education delivery in Guyana.

    Key highlights of the minister’s outreach include:

    School Visits

    • Minister Manickchand and her technical team visited St. Rose’s High School and North Ruimveldt Multilateral School in Georgetown.
    • The minister engaged directly with students and teachers, explaining the platform’s features and potential benefits.

    Platform Overview

    • The Guyana Digital School offers access to digital textbooks, interactive content, and learning tools.
    • It currently provides resources for 13 CSEC subjects, with 35 weeks of content available upon registration.
    • The platform integrates artificial intelligence to personalize learning experiences.

    Key Features

    • Student-centered design with multiple content formats including video lessons, interactive games, and practice tests.
    • Self-paced learning model allowing students to progress at their own speed.
    • Open access for all students across Guyana, regardless of location or school affiliation.

    Registration and Accessibility

    • Students can register for the platform at digitalschool.moe.edu.gy
    • The initial target is to have 5,000 students actively using the platform in its first phase.
    • All materials remain accessible for an entire year after registration.

    Minister Manickchand emphasized the platform’s potential to improve learning outcomes, particularly for students preparing for CSEC examinations. This initiative aligns with the government’s broader vision of developing a modern digital economy and ensuring equitable access to quality education across Guyana.
