    Milo U-18 Schools Football Championship 2025 Launched

    The 11th edition of the Milo Secondary Schools U-18 Football Championship has been officially launched for the 2025 season. This prestigious tournament, sponsored by Massey through their Nestle product Milo, is set to kick off on February 16, 2025.

    Key details of the tournament:

    1. Organizers: The experienced Petra Organisation continues to coordinate the event.
    2. Participating teams: 24 schools from across Guyana have been selected to compete.
    3. Venues: Matches will be played at the Ministry of Education Ground and the NIS Ground on Carifesta Avenue, Georgetown.
    4. Prize money:
      • Winners: GYD $300,000
      • Runners-up: GYD $150,000
      • Third place: GYD $75,000
    5. Individual awards: Most Valuable Player (MVP), highest goal scorer, and best goalkeeper will be recognized.
    6. Tournament format: Initial round-robin, followed by round of 16, quarter-finals, semi-finals, and final.
    7. Final date: Tentatively scheduled for April 12, 2025.
    8. Media coverage: Semi-finals and final will be live-streamed, with the final potentially aired on SportsMax.

    The tournament continues to emphasize its role in developing well-rounded students and addressing violence in schools. Stakeholders, including the Guyana Football Federation and the Ministry of Education’s Allied Arts Unit, have expressed their support for the event’s contribution to youth development through sports.

    Massey and Nestle reaffirmed their commitment to supporting youth football in Guyana, with hopes that the tournament will produce high-caliber athletes for the future.
