    2024 National Indoor Youth Open: A Showcase of Young Archery Talent

    The much-anticipated 2024 National Indoor Youth Open competition organized by Archery Guyana took place at the National Gymnasium on February 8-9, 2025. This event brought together the country’s most talented young archers, culminating in a weekend filled with precision, passion, and fierce competition.

    As the competition concluded, standout performers included Brandon Cummings, Fatima Gani, and Saifullah Gani, who made their mark in various categories. Archery Guyana declared the event a significant success, highlighting the remarkable skills and sportsmanship demonstrated by young archers in an electrifying environment. The event was streamed live, enabling fans, coaches, and supporters to engage with the action in real time.

    To enhance the experience, Archery Guyana utilized IANSEO, a globally recognized scoring software, which provided accurate and instant updates on scores, amplifying the excitement for both athletes and spectators.

    Celebrating Excellence in Archery

    The competition featured thrilling matchups across several categories, showcasing the exceptional talent and resilience of the young athletes. Judges Afzal Karim, Umasankar Madray, and Vidushi Persaud-McKinnon ensured that the event adhered to world-class officiating standards. Meanwhile, Director of Shooting Ryan McKinnon, alongside Results Manager Saeed Karim and the Results Management Team, facilitated seamless operations throughout the tournament.

    The medalists for the 2024 National Indoor Youth Open included:

    – Barebow Under-15 Men’s:
    – Gold: Brandon Cummings
    – Silver: Daniel Cox
    – Bronze: Christopher Cooblall

    – Barebow Under-15 Women’s:
    – Gold: Fatima Gani
    – Silver: Samiyyah La Cruez
    – Bronze: Summayyah Karim

    – Barebow Under-18 Men’s:
    – Gold: Saifullah Gani
    – Silver: Samuel George

    Inspiring the Next Generation

    During the closing ceremony, Director of Shooting Ryan McKinnon expressed gratitude to the parents, family members, and supporters who rallied behind the young archers. Archery Guyana President Vidushi Persaud-McKinnon delivered a heartfelt address, commending the athletes for their commitment and achievements.

    “Young archers, you have demonstrated that the future of archery in Guyana is bright. Competing at a national level is a remarkable accomplishment, and you should take pride in your efforts,†she stated.

    Encouraging the participants to strive for even greater heights, Persaud-McKinnon emphasized the importance of focus and dedication, suggesting that they have the potential to represent Guyana on regional and international stages. She concluded with a motivational call to “aim higher, train harder, and return even stronger for the 2025 Youth Open.”

    Archery Guyana expressed heartfelt thanks to all individuals and organizations that contributed to the event’s success, including Minister of Culture, Youth, and Sport Charles Ramson Jr; Director of Sport Steve Ninvalle; the National Sports Commission; Guyana Olympic Association President Godfrey Munroe and the Executive Committee; Samuel Arjoon from Guyana Beverages Inc (Oasis Water); and members of the media.
