Botafago FC, Capital FC advance to finals after contrasting victories – Upper Demerara Football Association’s/Banks DIH Futsal

    Published on

Botafago Football Club (FC) and Capital FC secured contrasting wins as they set the stage for an East versus West final in the Upper Demerara Football Association’s fourth Banks DIH futsal Christmas tournament, scheduled for Thursday evening in Linden.
Botafago crushed Blueberry Hill United 7-3, while Capital FC overcame Topp XX 3-2, and they now face each other for the top $1 million prize at stake.

Malachi Todd and Donovan Francis were double scorers in that victory for Botafago, who, after a 4-2 first-half lead, would romp home winners 7-3, with single strikes from Jamal Haynes, Sherwin Caesar, and Shane Haynes.
For the losers, Roydell Arthur, Shaka Lewis, and Rydell Arthur each had one goal.
The second semifinal was more competitive, with Capital FC reaching the final after a struggle with Topp XX to emerge victorious by a 3-2 score-line.
Devonte Tappin led the way for the victorious Capital FC side with their first goal, while Emmanuel Atkins and Orlanzo Thorman contributed the second and third goals.
Topp XX’s top shooter was Ryan Arthur, who netted a brace in that loss.
On New Year’s Night, the final between Botafago and Capital FC will be preceded by the third-place playoff match between the losing semi-finalists Topp XX and Blueberry Hill United.
