CARICOM and Colombia Advance Trade Negotiations in Bridgetown

    Published on

The Caribbean Community (CARICOM) and the Republic of Colombia have successfully concluded the Third Round of negotiations to expand preferential market access under the Trade, Economic and Technical Cooperation Agreement (TECA).

The negotiations took place in Bridgetown, Barbados, from November 4–6, 2025, and were co-chaired by Ms. Tricia Gideon, Deputy Director General for Foreign Trade of Belize, and Mr. Luis Felipe Quintero, Vice Minister of Trade of Colombia.

The negotiations, which were launched in Jamaica in 2022, will update the partial scope agreement between CARICOM Member States and Colombia which was concluded in 1998. The negotiations with Colombia fulfill a critical mandate given by the CARICOM Heads of Government.

CARICOM and Colombia agreed to hold virtual intersessional meetings to advance the negotiations and conduct a final round of negotiations in March 2026.
