Mohan Mooloo from Region Six (East Berbice-Corentyne) is currently in police custody after being apprehended with 49 grams of marijuana at the Bartica Ferry Stelling in Region Seven (Cuyuni-Mazaruni).

According to police reports, two officers on duty at the ferry stelling noticed Mooloo behaving suspiciously around 18:00 hours on Tuesday. They approached him for questioning. Mooloo identified himself as a 23-year-old security officer residing in Number 40 Village, Corentyne, Berbice.

The officers requested to search him, to which Mooloo consented. During the search, a black side bag he was carrying was found to contain a mixture of leaves, seeds, and stems believed to be cannabis.

He was promptly informed of the offense, cautioned, and taken into custody. At the Bartica Police Station, the suspected narcotics were weighed in his presence, confirming the amount to be 49 grams. The substance was then securely packaged, sealed, and logged for evidence under the supervision of a subordinate officer.

Mooloo continues to remain in custody while police prepare to file formal charges against him.
